Lee County School District


The Lee County School District offers a challenging educational climate through quality curricula sequencing from K-12, including:

Gifted and Talented Program

Enrichment classes K-2, Resource Classes 3-6, Honors classes 7-12, and Phillips Community College Program grade 12.

Special Education

Classes for educable mentally retarded and learning disabled children are offered at all levels.

HIPPY Program

Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters. Students (K-8) are provided daily directed teaching lessons (Direct Instruction) in math, developmental and/or corrective reading
along with an integrated language arts program that emphasizes listening, higher order thinking, speaking and expressive writing. This is in addition to the core curriculum.
Characteristics that set Direct Instruction apart from other programs are:
(1) Direct Instruction programs are easily monitored and are regularly supervised to ensure student success.
(2) Criterion-referenced testing procedures are periodically used to ensure proper placement and teacher accountability.

Junior High

Regular academic subject areas and a variety of elective courses.

High School

Foreign language (French and Spanish), speech, drama, journalism, social studies, (civics. world history, world affairs, global studies), math (geometry, trigonometry, calculus, applied math), art, band,
music theory, natural and physical education and extensive vocational offerings.

Alternative Learning

The Alternative Learning Environment provides an appropriate setting for students who are unable to remain/achieve in the regular school setting.

Extracurricular Activities

Academic fairs and contests, special interest clubs, school plays, band, chorus, drill team, cheerleading and competitive sports.

The Lee County School District is a member of the Arkansas Activities Association AAA athletic conference.

Lee Academy is a small, private school serving around 300 students from preschool through twelfth grade. We are accredited through the Mississippi Private School Education Association.
Emphasis is placed on the recognition and need of each child to help them grow socially, emotionally, and academically to the best of his or her ability.
We take pride in all of our students and strive to help them do their best. The success of our educational process is due to the support of parents, staff, students, and community.
Working together, we have created a close "family like" atmosphere, a desire for academic excellence,
and a genuine concern for others.


The purpose of Lee Academy is simply and directly stated as quality education. As we strive to achieve this objective, emphasis is given to helping students acquire a desire for knowledge and respect for learning,
an understanding of our cultural heritage and respect for our country, a strong moral character, and a well developed sense of personal responsibility.

Teachers: 17 certified teachers and 4 aides Teacher/Student Ratio: 1-15 Graduation Rate: 100% ACT and SAT Testing: Lee Academy seniors test above the national and the state averages on both tests.
Stanford Achievement Test: Given to grades 1,2,3,5,7, & 10. Student scoring is above the state and national averages. Lee Academy Preschool is licensed through the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
At the present time, we are licensed to serve 14 children. That number can be increased to 22 if the need arises. This program is for four-year-old children. Lee Academy offers a challenging curriculum for both
elementary and high school students. Lower Elementary stresses Math and Language Arts with a strong emphasis on phonics. Handwriting, Science, and Social Studies are also taught as well as Music Appreciation,
Physical Education, Library Science, Foreign Language, and Computer Science. Upper Elementary stresses all subject areas listed above with extra emphasis on Problem Solving, Reading Comprehension, and
Critical Thinking as well as Music Appreciation, Physical Education, Library Skills, Foreign Language, and Computer Science. A tutoring program is offered daily for grades one through six. Junior High students
are offered Math, History, English, Science, and a variety of electives. High School students are offered honors courses for the college bound student and basic courses for the non-college bound student.
Foreign Language and Computer Science are also offered.

Extracurricular Activities

Academic Contests, Spelling Bees, Art Contests, Spanish Club, Beta Club, Elementary and High School Student Council, Fire Marshals, Yearbook Staff, Newspaper Staff, Office Management Club,
National Honor Society, Reading Challenge, Science Fair, Super Scholars Club, Music Appreciation, Drama, Outstanding Students, Academic Departmental Awards. Athletic Activities
Athletic activities are an important part of student life, second only to academics, and Lee Academy strives to make the opportunity to participate in inter-school athletics available to as many students as possible.
Football (elementary, junior and senior high), Basketball (elementary, junior, and senior high), Baseball, Track, Softball, Golf, and Cheerleading.






East Arkansas Community College

East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City is a full-service community college that serves a large portion of Eastern Arkansas. EACC’s faculty and staff is committed to providing students of all ages and stages of life access to high quality and affordable academic, technical and non-credit education.   

EACC offers a core of general education classes that are fully transferable to other state-supported colleges and universities. The College also offers a full range of academic and technical scholarships and financial aid and payment options.  






EACC also offers customized industry training opportunities for area business and industries.

 Students have the option of taking classes at our Forrest City campus, the Wynne-Site at the Bill Thomas Building in Wynne and many other locations within our five-county service area. Evening classes and Distance Learning options are offered each semester.

Crowley's Ridge Vo-Tech has 13 full-time programs: auto body repair, automotive service technology, basic drafting technology, business computerized accounting & secretarial/word processing,
child care specialist, cosmetology, electronic technology, industrial equipment technology, licensed practical nursing, machine shop technology, major appliance service, residential construction/carpentry and welding.

Short-term programs are: certified nursing assistant, truck driving, emergency medical technology and adult education.
